Art, hope and community unite for a heartfelt purpose

ABOUT THE SHOW

Celebrate the 26th Annual Dancing for Diabetes, the nation’s premier dance event that unites an extraordinary community of performers while raising awareness and vital support for the nonprofit, Touched by Type 1.

This high-energy, two-hour production features award-winning, nationally recognized dancers from across the region. Audiences will experience a memorable evening of artistry and inspiration, with dazzling performances in hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, high kick and more. Highlights include the moving Kids & Teens with Diabetes presentation—an empowering performance by youth living with type 1 diabetes—alongside dynamic numbers from hundreds of children, teens and young adults representing dance studios, K-12 schools and collegiate programs throughout Central Florida.

For 26 years, Dancing for Diabetes has celebrated the power of the arts while championing the mission of Touched by Type 1: to elevate awareness of type 1 diabetes, fund the search for a cure and inspire those living with the disease to thrive.

The story began in 2001, when then-ten-year-old Elizabeth (Stein) Forrest—newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes—launched a small dance performance in Sanford to combine her love of the arts with her determination to make a difference. Today, that spark has grown into a signature production and a powerful movement that has impacted thousands of lives across the country.
