About the artist
Music has the power to transform an event. It can welcome guests, inspire meaningful moments, spark conversation, celebrate life's milestones, and create memories that linger long after the last note fades. That belief is at the heart of At the Piano with Dr. T.
Known professionally as Dr. T or Dr. Lane, Terrance Lane is an award-winning pianist, music director, collaborative artist, and educator whose performances bring elegance, warmth, and sophistication to every occasion. Whether providing refined background music for a corporate reception, creating the perfect atmosphere for a wedding cocktail hour, serving as the featured performer at a nonprofit gala, or collaborating with other artists, Dr. T understands that every event has its own story—and every performance should reflect it.
Dr. T's repertoire is as diverse as the audiences he serves. His performances blend timeless jazz standards, selections from the Great American Songbook, Broadway favorites, classical works, gospel, contemporary love songs, holiday music, and carefully chosen popular classics.
Behind the piano is a musician whose career spans decades of excellence. Dr. T has served as music director for several musicals, guest conductor for the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and former Director of Choral Studies and Co-Director of Opera Workshop/Music Theatre at Bethune-Cookman University. He is also a collaborative artist with distinguished performers and ensembles throughout the country. His work has earned numerous honors, including recognition as one of Central Florida's leading music directors by the Orlando Sentinel in 2023 and 2024, as well as awards celebrating his artistry and service to the community.
Yet, for Dr. T, music has always been about something deeper than accolades. The piano has been a lifelong source of peace, strength, joy, and personal expression. It has taken him around the world, introduced him to extraordinary people, and reinforced his belief that music can heal, inspire, and bring people together in meaningful ways.
That philosophy guides every performance.
Dr. T's goal is simple: to create an atmosphere in which people feel uplifted, inspired, peaceful, and genuinely connected.
