About the show 

Puerto Rican cuatrista, singer and Emmy-nominated composer Fabiola Méndez joins us for a two-night residency. Exploring the traditional folk music of her country, Fabiola celebrates the cuatro—Puerto Rico’s national instrument—through melodic, ancestral storytelling.  

As a master of the cuatro, Fabiola has performed with Bad Bunny on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert and at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Hear her original music mix traditional folk with freewheeling improvisation for a sound that feels both deeply rooted and refreshingly new.
