Alboreá Dance Company presents The Phantom: Echoes of the Past. This show retells Gaston Leroux’s classic novel, The Phantom of the Opera, acknowledging the quiet devastation lurking behind the facade of an impossible love story. Years after the ordeal, adult Christine is still trapped in the past, finding herself reliving memories of the opera house. Through flashbacks, the audience is reunited with familiar characters, and Christine encounters her younger self.
Drawing from flamenco rhythms and the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Phantom dares audiences to see the story though a different lens. How does the obsessive love in this tragic tale echo through a lifetime? Experience an interpretation of this masterpiece through the eyes of flamenco, enchanting melodies of the guitar, the captivating energy of the singers and the passion of the dancers.
The Alboreá Dance Company combines the essential qualities of flamenco dance with modern rhythms, passion and innovation to produce a contemporary form of flamenco dance. For more than 20 years, Ernesto Caballero and Jenny Rios have developed and perfected an artform of flamenco dance that blends the richness of many cultures into one.
